According to Theresa May, British interior minister, British police should be able to use more stringent methods to repress riots. The authorities will fully support the new standards if the use of force is reasonable and remains within the law.
Speaking to the press and police officers in London, May asked the governing bodies of various police agencies to undertake the development of new working standards after the recent riots and looting in the streets of London and other British cities.
