Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko who has been held in jail while on trial for exceeding her authority in signing gas deals with Russia in 2009, has not been allowed to consult her doctor, the Ukrainian premier's spokeswoman, Marina Soroka, said on Friday.

Tymoshenko on Thursday requested permission for a medical examination over mysterious symptoms, including blotches on her body, but the court did not give consent, claiming she had been offered medical attention at the detention center, which she had rejected.

"She has a very bad condition and bruises on her body," said Soroka.

Tymoshenko, 50, who was arrested on August 5, is accused of damaging Ukraine's national interests by signing "unfair" gas supply deals with Russia as prime minister in 2009. She faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

According to Soroka, it is unclear so far, what the disease could be, but Tymoshenko's doctor said that the former prime minister should have a blood test.

The judge adjourned the trial until Monday.

Currently Ukraine's leading opposition figure, Tymoshenko has denied all the charges brought against her as politically motivated.
