Medvedev took off his jacket after inspecting the classrooms and, armed with a shovel, planted a tree in a courtyard of the school. He watered the planted tree from a blue plastic watering can and thanked the students and asked them to “keep an eye on the tree”. Passing by the journalists who observed the planting, Medvedev playfully said: "You could also plant something and not just sit here."
Stavropol presidential Cadet School was placed in the disbanded military corps of air engineering school. Cadets will spend the next seven years here.
The president, who enjoys photography, was really welcome in the school studio. Seven cadets and a teacher met him.
The best works of the cadets and equipment were demonstrated to Medvedev. Boys asked the president a lot of questions about his passion for photography. Medvedev admitted that he has about 20 cameras in his working collection.
Dmitry Medvedev has shared his childhood memories about the photography with the cadets: "There were only roll-film cameras previously, and it was a long exciting process of work - you needed to fix the film at the beginning, then to process it, to dry and only after you needed to insert the film in the enlarger and print photographs."
Medvedev visited one more school in the Stavropol region on Thursday. The president visited the first grade, which had a lesson named “Russia - my homeland”. Medvedev asked a teacher what the lesson was about and the teacher said that it was about Russia, the homeland and about the president. "There is no need to talk about the president, he came himself,” Medvedev said, laughing.
