The theme Days of Italy in St. Petersburg was chosen for this year’s ceremony, and centered on the figure of Bartolomeo Rastrelli, a Russian architect of Italian origin who was behind the grand reconstruction of the Peterhof ensemble.
The laser show poetically titled “Capriccio. Rastrelli Dedication” was divided into five parts, like a set of musical compositions that make up a suite, with each piece symbolizing the architect’s vision.
The show concluded with a spectacular fireworks display.
