The channel said, citing Indian Interior Ministry figures, that 68 people were killed in India. Twenty deaths were recorded in neighboring Nepal and Tibet, bringing the overall death toll to 88.
More than 5,000 servicemen were deployed in the affected areas to assist in the post-disaster relief and rescue efforts.
The earthquake, with its epicenter in the Indian state of Sikkim, hit the region on Sunday at 18:10 local time (12:40 GMT). It was followed by two strong aftershocks of 6.1 and 5.3.
