About 50 people were injured when a commuter train carrying some 100 passengers hit a car at a railroad crossing in eastern Germany, the LVZ-Online publication reported on Tuesday.
The Chemnitz-Leipzig train derailed after the crash, which occurred near Lauterbach after the car was pushed onto the tracks by another vehicle that hit it from behind, police said.
Nine people were sent to hospital in helicopters in serious conditions.
An investigation is underway.
