Russia's NATO envoy Dmitry Rogozin, who also heads a Russian nationalist campaign group, has urged his colleagues to support Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and join his People's Front.

Rogozin, whose Rodina-Congress of Russian Communities (CRC) movement defends the rights of ethnic Russians both in Russia and abroad, said his organization would take part in the December parliamentary polls.

"I've already made my choice. My choice is Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. We need to support him," Rogozin said, adding he is connected to Putin "not only by political contacts and values, but by human relationship ties."

He urged delegates at the CRC congress to join the Putin-backed People's Front, adding that it was "time" for nationalists to stop simply attending marches and "move into the cabinet."

The People's Front movement was set up by the United Russia party, led by Putin, in a bid to broaden the party's electoral base with "non-party people" in the run-up to the December parliamentary elections.
