One day trip to Pereslavl-Zalessky

Pereslavl-Zalessky was founded in 1152 by Prince Yury Dolgoruky. Feodorovsky Convent is located in the south of Pereslavl. Its construction was associated with the birth of the Prince Feodor, son of Ivan the Terrible, in 1557.

For a long time, Feodorovsky Convent was under the patronage of the royal family. Around the same time it was a prison for many “undesirable” noble women.

The Kettle Museum, despite its small size, holds a really interesting collection of kettles and teapots from different parts of the world and different times.

People in Pereslavl do not hurry anywhere. They live a slow, measured life, which seems to be absolutely without stress.

The town is located 140 km to the northeast of Moscow on the main Moscow-Yaroslavl road and on the shores of Lake Plescheyevo.

One of the most picturesque attractions is the former fishing settlement, Ribatskaya Sloboda. It’s always lively here. Brightly painted boats on the water near the shore please the eye. Small sheds for boats stand on stilts in the water. This picturesque scene attracts the attention of artists, who call this place "Russian Venice".

The Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Savior, founded in 1152, is one of the oldest buildings in Russia.

The Purification Church of Alexander Nevsky was built in 1785. It is a working church.

The Church of Metropolitan Peter: Originally the church was built of wood and only in 1584 was construction of a stone church financed by Ivan the Terrible. Three sides of its elegant tented roof are circled by an open walking gallery.

Lake Plescheyevo is one of the most popular lakes in Russia. The lake is very popular for camping, swimming and fishing.

Some people even use the lake for windsurfing or sunbathing during the summer months.

The Nikolsky Convent was founded in 1350 and has since then undergone a massive renovation. It was destroyed by the Tatars, Poles and later by the Communists. Today it looks magnificent again.
