Police in Russia’s central Kostroma region are investigating the killing of a man by a bear, a police officer said on Wednesday.
The accident occurred late on Tuesday near the village of Gudkovo. A group of three local residents shot the bear as it emerged from a nearby forest. The bear fled back to the forest and attacked one of the hunters as they were trying to find the wounded animal.
The man died at the scene. The bear was shot dead by the two surviving hunters.
