The celebrations took place on Meidan Square where civilizations have rubbed shoulders peacefully for centuries. Just off the square, visitors can find a mosque, an Armenian church, a synagogue, and a Georgian temple.

As is tradition, new rubber boots were handed out to volunteers who wished to try their hand at crushing freshly ripened grapes. The juice was poured into barrels to become golden Kakheti wine after fermenting.
