A rescue team in the Arkhangelsk Region, looking for a missing monk and a Solovetsky Monastery worker, unexpectedly found a marooned fisherman on Malaya Sennukha Island. He had survived 17 days by eating algae.
On October 1, Sergei Ganyushev, 25, from Arkhangelsk encountered a storm in a long-boat which ran aground and sank. Ganyushev managed to wade ashore, where he built a dugout to shelter himself from foul weather.
