Servicemen were quickly able to organize a supply of sandbags and stones, and by the early hours on Sunday they had securely plugged the hole and stopped the flow of water.
Bangkok’s northern suburb was completely flooded, and thousands of homes were left without power. People moved about Bangkok in self-made rafts.
