Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova dropped out of the Word Tennis Association tour in Istanbul due to an injury to her left ankle.
At the end of September, Sharapova twisted her ankle during the tennis tournament in Tokyo and just returned to the court in Istanbul.
Sharapova lost two games in Istanbul to Australia's Samantha Strosur and China's Li Na. After dropping out of the tournament, Sharapova now has no chance of becoming number one ranked in the WTA at the end of the season.
