Kyrgyz Prime Minister Almazbek Atambayev is set to win Sunday’s presidential election, gaining over 50 percent of the vote, with over 80% of the ballots counted, the Central Asian country’s Central Election Commission said citing preliminary data.
A candidate who gains over 50% of the vote wins the election.
Sixteen candidates took part in the presidential polls. Atambayev left his closest rivals far behind.
