Pyotr, the world’s seven-billionth person, was born in the early hours of Monday, October 31, in Kaliningrad, Russia. 31.10.2011, Sputnik International
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has chosen October 31 as the day when humankind will top the seven-billion mark. UN experts have decided to name Kaliningrad, Russia, as the venue for the change in the worldwide demographic situation. The baby was born several minutes after midnight.
This is the family’s third, long-awaited and desired child. The parents already have an older son and a daughter. The mother, 36-year-old Yelena, is feeling fine.
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Russia’s Federal Service for State Statistics have decided that the certificate of the world’s seven-billionth person will be issued to the first baby born on October 31, 2011. As it is impossible to accurately locate the seven-billionth person in the world, this event is purely symbolic, and UN experts have decided to choose the Kaliningrad-born baby.
On Monday, the newborn baby’s mother will receive a certificate naming him the world’s seven-billionth person.
