Lawyers representing Ahmedpasha Aidayev and Bekhan Ibragimov, who were found guilty of the premeditated murder of Spartak fan Yury Volkov, plan to appeal the verdict, Abu Supyan Gaityev, one of the lawyers, said.
The lawyers believe the jury was unable to take an unbiased view of the case. Gaitayev said that he had no complaints against the jury, as they were not given all the facts of the case.
“The defendants did not get a fair trial. The sentence is unjust,” he said.
Yury Volkov was stabbed on July 2010 in the center of Moscow. On October 26, the jury found both men guilty of premeditated murder. Aidayev was sentenced to 17 years in prison, Ibragimov received six years in prison.
