Thailand's worst floods in decades have left 506 people dead, the Thai Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation said on Sunday.

Thailand has been struggling with floods, the worst in the country in the past 50 years, since late July.

The floods have affected over 9 million people in 64 flood-stricken provinces or more than four-fifths of the country's territory, Xinhua news agency reported.

Tens of thousands of industrial enterprises have been flooded, putting over 600,000 people at the risk of losing their jobs.

The floods have receded in some upstream provinces but still prevail in 25 provinces in northeastern and central regions, including the capital Bangkok, affecting some 1.2 million households or 3.2 million people, the agency said.

In Bangkok, 13 out of 50 districts have been swamped, putting the inner city at the risk of being flooded. Bangkok residents are leaving the city of 12 million, but many have refused to leave their homes despite government recommendations.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said on Saturday the government would allocate 100 billion baht ($3.3 billion) for post-flood reconstruction.
