Russian president meets activists of Russian social media.

Issues related to the development of the Internet and internet technologies were discussed at a meeting in the Manezh Exhibition Hall.

Bloggers, members of different internet projects, representatives of mass media and social networks including Vkontakte, Medvedev Our President, Medvedev’s Girls, Bloggers against garbage and others participated in the meeting.

Russian celebrities including writer Sergei Minaev, TV presenter Tina Kandelaki, singer Viktoria Daineko, actor and TV presenter Garik Kharlamov and Russia Today editor-in-chief Maragarita Simonyan were also invited to take part in the meeting.

The conversation was organized the same way as a month ago: the participants sat in a large hall in a semicircle.

The president said that he knew many participants only virtually, so he asked them to name themselves before asking a question.

During the talk Medvedev promised to facilitate improvements in the quality of materials published on government sites.

The president predicted that referendums and voting would be conducted online in twenty-thirty years.

Medvedev also admitted that “almost everybody in the presidential administration has the Angry Birds game [on his or her computer].”

Medeved, an ardent supporter of modernization and new technologies, can be called an experienced user. For several years he has written in LifeJournal blog. He initially opened his Twitter account in June 2010 during a visit to Silicon Valley.
