A new Greek interim government will be sworn in on November 11, a state-run TV channel said on Thursday.
The former vice president of the European Central Bank, Lucas Papademos, will head the new cabinet, the presidential office confirmed.
“I am convinced that the country’s membership in the euro zone is the guarantee of financial independence,” Papademos said, adding that it will be easier to carry out necessary reforms if Greece remains in the euro zone.
Greek President Karolos Papoulias is currently holding talks with Papademos and other party leaders on the coalition government and measures to tackle the country's economic and political crisis.
Greece currently has one of the biggest public debts in the euro zone, amounting to nearly 100% of its GDP.
