Mexican Secretary of the Interior Jose Francisco Blake Mora was killed on Friday in a helicopter crash while flying from Mexico City to nearby Cuernavaca, a government spokeswoman said.
All nine people aboard the helicopter died in the crash, including Blake’s deputy, Felipe Zamora.
The cause of the accident is unknown. According to preliminary reports, the pilots were attempting an emergency landing in thick fog.
Fire fighters and rescuers are at the crash site.
