The working visit began at the village of Golovchino, where Putin used a somewhat unusual method to urge a local hospital’s modernization.

Accompanied by Minister of Healthcare Tatyana Golikova, the prime minister toured the hospital and listened to requests concerning new medical equipment. The doctors confessed they would like to have an ultrasound, a mammography unit, an ECG machine, and a new oral surgery room.

While visiting the dentist’s office, Putin urged Belgorod Region Governor Yevgeny Savchenko to sit in an old dentist chair and laughingly grabbed a drill.

Vladimir Putin visited a local children’s art school. Opened in 2001 in a 19th-century building, the school offers free classes in piano, accordion, pictorial art, choreography, and theory of music and choreography. Headmistress Oksana Vakulenko told the prime minister that the school had a staff of eight for 116 pupils.

At the rural model cultural center in the village of Antonovka, the prime minister saw a mini-show prepared for him by the local children.

Vladimir Putin took part in the National Forum of Rural Intelligentsia, where he instructed Belgorod Region Governor Yevgeny Savchenko to promptly remove social and economic problems mentioned by an ambulance driver in his address to the Forum. The list included bad roads, worn tires, the lack of medical equipment and inadequate medical staff numbers.

After a meeting with the governor, the prime minister visited a local arts and crafts exhibition.

Putin was presented with an embroidered cloth portraying the spire of a local building and a 15-liter cask for pickles.
