Kazakh scientists have discovered a new mineral and named it Nurnazen, an acronym of the name and surname of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, the press service of the republican Ministry of Education and Science said on Thursday.
Scientists “decided to dedicate a new mineral from the hydrocarbon clusters to the 20th anniversary of independence and to call it Nurnazen,” the press release said.
The new mineral has promising scientific and practical uses for medical and chemical technology.
Nazarbayev has been in office since 1989 and was granted the official title of "leader of the nation" by parliament last year.
