President Dmitry Medvedev instructed the Central Election Commission to investigate alleged vote rigging on Tuesday.
Medvedev topped the ticket of the ruling United Russia party in the December 4 elections to the State Duma. The party won the majority with just under 50% of the votes.
Commenting on the internet videos that showed alleged ballot stuffing and expulsion of monitors from polling stations, Medvedev said the videos were not plausible evidence and they could be a mere provocation.
