Supporters of President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin have called a pro-government rally outside the Kremlin for Monday.
The rally is meant to challenge ongoing protests over the results of last week’s parliamentary election, which were allegedly manipulated in favor of the ruling United Russia party.
Saturday will see the biggest opposition rally yet, with more than 34,000 visitors to social networking sites indicating they will turn up at Moscow’s Bolotnaya Square to demand a re-run of the election.
