Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on Thursday mocked the idea of rescheduling parliamentary elections for May saying that is the time of year when millions of Russians focus on planting their gardens.
Earlier, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, head of Russia’s Liberal Democratic Party, proposed rescheduling the federal elections, traditionally held in December, saying that many Russians suffer from depression during the winter months.
In a televised chat show with the nation, Putin said: “I am positive about this initiative, but I am afraid that gardeners would smack me. They would say: 'We have to dig our gardens, and you force us to do this nonsense!'”
