Several dozen people gathered in the Russian Pacific port city of Vladivostok on Sunday to protest against alleged mass electoral fraud at the December 4 parliamentary poll and elections to the regional legislature.

About 50 people gathered on Korabelnaya Embankment in Vladivostok for an authorized rally organized by the local branch of the Communist Party, the Other Russia opposition movement and local public organizations. The number of protesters was about ten times less than at the rally held last Sunday, local police said.

The leaders of local left-wing forces and public organizations who spoke at the rally claimed that the election results were falsified in favor of the ruling United Russia party and the local electoral commissions worked under strong administrative pressure during the parliamentary poll.

The rally adopted a resolution urging that the results of the December 4 parliamentary elections be cancelled and a new poll be held under the control of independent observers.

The December 4 elections were marred by widespread allegations of fraud in favor of the pro-Kremlin United Russia, with dozens of video clips appearing to show ballot-stuffing uploaded onto the Internet.

Protests over the alleged mass electoral fraud were held in Moscow on Saturday, as more than a thousand people attended a rally on Bolotnaya Square near the Kremlin.

On December 10, the square - on an island just south of the Kremlin - saw Moscow's biggest anti-government rally since the fall of the Soviet Union as tens of thousands gathered there to accuse United Russia of stealing their votes and demand a re-run.
