At least ten people were killed and twelve are missing after a pleasure boat carrying about 25 people capsized near the southeastern Indian city of Chennai on Sunday, Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.
The boat which was reportedly operated by local fishermen, overturned in the Pulicat Lake, about 60 kilometers from Chennai, PTI said citing local police.
The death toll now stands at ten with twelve people are still missing, the paper said.
According to local officials, the passengers of the boat had no tickets as it was a pleasure trip on the privately-owned boat.
Local fishermen and divers are involved into the ongoing rescue operation.
