*Ukrainian opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko, convicted on charges of abuse of office, will be serving her sentence in the Kachanovskaya Penal Colony in the country’s Kharkov region, the penitentiary service said.

*North Korea has said the international community should not "expect any change" in its policies after the death of leader Kim Jong-il.
*The Syrian opposition is pushing for the resignation of a Sudanese general heading the Arab League’s monitoring mission in Syria, al Arabiya reported.

*Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has ordered the repar of a Russian submarine damaged by fire while in dry dock near Murmansk.
