At least three people have died in fresh clashes between anti-regime protesters and security forces loyal to President Ali Abdullah Saleh, the Iranian TV channel Press TV reported on Monday.

Two people were killed and two others wounded on Sunday in the el-Fardha Nehem region, some 80 km (50 miles) northeast of the capital Sana'a, when Saleh's elite Republican Guard forces led by his son shelled their homes, the TV channel said, referring to local tribesmen

Another civilian was killed in Sana'a when Saleh loyalists attacked the supporters of anti-government tribal chief Sadeq al-Ahmar, activists told the TV channel.

Antigovernment protests demanding the resignation of Saleh, who has ruled the country for 33 years, erupted in February. According to some reports, hundreds of people have been killed and thousands injured. Though Saleh has stepped down, the clashes in Yemen have not stopped.

At present, an interim government is running the country until a new cabinet is formed after elections slated for February 2012.
