A gunshot wound caused the death of a teenager in southern Russia during fireworks on New Year’s night, local investigators said on Tuesday.
The incident took place ten minutes after the clock struck 12 when parents and their 16-year-old son went outside to enjoy fireworks near their house in Rostov-on-Don. Suddenly the boy fell down. The parents called the ambulance but their son died on the way to hospital.
“Investigation has discovered that the teenager died from a blunt gunshot wound in the top of the head,” investigators said, adding that they were looking for the culprit.
Earlier police said that no wounds had been found on the boy’s body. Some media said the teenager could have died from poor quality pyrotechnics that he was going to launch with his father.
