At least 26 people were killed and 63 injured when a bomb went off in the Syrian capital of Damascus on Friday, Syrian Interior Minister Mohammad al-Shaar said.
The blast apparently targeting police occurred at a busy crossroads in the Midan district in central Damascus shortly before the noon prayer, the Sana news agency reported.
The Surya state TV channel aired video footage from the scene showing smashed cars and buses, and human body parts scattered around.
This is the second terrorist attack to rock in Damascus in the past two weeks. On December 24, a total of 54 people were killed and more than 160 were injured when female suicide bombers detonated two cars laden with explosives in central Damascus.
