Russia's Supreme Court upheld a lower-court ruling on Thursday that postal voting is legal.
The ruling came in response to a lawsuit filed by the St. Petersburg branch of the Just Russia party calling for postal voting to be scrapped, the court told RAPSI news agency.
The Supreme Court affirmed the Central Election Committee's regulation allowing people to vote by mail in federal and local elections.
The Central Election Committee approved on October 5, 2011 a temporary postal ballot procedure applicable to the federal and local elections and regional and local referendums.
