Belarus on Thursday deported seven Russian tourists who claimed they had traveled to Minsk with the goal of illegally penetrating guarded facilities, including subway stations, and photographing them, a spokesman for the Russian embassy in Belarus said.
In all thirteen Russian “diggers” were detained on January 2 after the head of a bus station complained that they were violating public order, according to Belarusian news agencies. Six young women were deported at once and the seven others received jail terms of two to ten days.
Police said the detainees were members of the Russian informal digger movement “Voron.”
The diggers were also banned from entering Belarus for five years.
