Police detained two men in St. Petersburg on suspicion of robbing beer from a shop by threatening the shop assistant with a hand grenade, a city police spokesman said on Monday.
“After they got two beer bottles the men put the grenade on the counter and ran off,” he said, adding that they were detained soon afterwards.
This is the second time a grenade has been used in a crime in Russia’s northern capital in recent days.
On Friday, a man set off a hand grenade in a conflict, slightly injuring one man.
