Yesterday in St. Petersburg, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin held an informal meeting with representatives of football fan clubs to discuss the future of football in the country and arrangement of sporting events.
Putin met with the fans at a restaurant on Vasilyevsky Island. They greeted Putin with the traditional cheer used at games involving the Russian national team: Ross-Ee-Ya! Their greeting put a smile on the premier’s face.
The guests were treated to beer and various delicacies including crayfish, sturgeon cured fillet, smelt in vinegar and mustard sauce, bastirma, smoked cheese, barbecue pork ribs, salty bread rolls, pretzels and chips. Main course: pelmeni and broth.
The prime minister promised to think about allowing beer and advertisement of Russian beer brands at Russian stadiums. “The decision regarding [the ban on] beer drinking at the stadiums was, of course, rooted in good intentions. I think we should reconsider it,” Putin said and added that the same applies to beer advertisements.
