A one-kilometer-tall building will be erected in Azerbaijan, the APA news agency reported on Tuesday citing the Avesta concern involved in a project to build Khazar Island, a new residential and business compound on the Caspian Sea.
Avesta nearly doubled its earlier projected height for the Azerbaijan Tower to 1,050 meters (3,445 ft) from 560 meters (1,837 ft), the company’s president, Haji Ibrahim Nehramli, said.
The 185-story building will be 200 meters (656 ft) higher than the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
The Azerbaijan Tower is to be commissioned in 2018-2019.
