Billionaire presidential candidate Mikhail Prokhorov reported some 115 billion rubles ($3.7 billion) in income over the last four years, Russia’s Central Electoral Commission said on Thursday.
Prokhorov, the majority owner of the New Jersey Nets basketball team, also has $181.7 million in 28 accounts. His real estate assets include a 22,900-square meter plot of land, three Moscow apartments of 699, 205.9 and 68.8 square meters and four parking spaces.
His opponent, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, reported income for the last four years of $557,744, including his salary, interest from bank deposits and shares.
Prokhorov’s income takes into account salary received from Russian metals giant Norilsk Nickel and Onexim Group, earnings from numerous business and financial investments, and other income, the declaration said.
In addition, the tycoon receives rental income on two properties: a 60.6 square-meter apartment in the Krasnoyarsk region and a 217.7 square-meter non-residential building in Moscow.
The billionaire is one of five campaign hopefuls. The four other registered candidates are Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, moderate social democratic leader Sergei Mironov, populist firebrand Vladimir Zhirinovsky and communist leader Gennady Zyuganov.
