Russian Premier League side Tom Tomsk have given acting head coach Sergei Perednya the permanent job, the club said Thursday.
Perednya had been in charge since September at the cash-strapped Siberian side, who currently sit last in the Premier League table.
“Sergei Perednya was yesterday appointed ... as the head coach without any 'caretaker' label, the club’s official Twitter page announced Thursday.
Perednya replaced Valery Nepomnyashchy, who was fired after three years at the club in September.
Then, Tomsk were in the midst of a record-breaking run of 12 Premier League games without scoring, which ended October 30.
Perednya featured in the Premier League for Uralmash, Lokomotiv Nizhny Novgorod and Tomsk during a 19-year playing career, before going on to manage Volga Nizhny Novgorod, then a second-tier side.
He spent a second, brief period at Volga in 2011 as assistant head coach to newly-installed boss Dmitry Cheryshev.
