Lokomotiv Moscow are clinging onto Russia international midfielder Renat Yanbaev, with the club insisting on Friday he's staying put despite reported interest from top Premier League clubs.
Yanbaev, 27, is reportedly a transfer target for Zenit St. Petersburg, Dynamo Moscow and Anzhi Makhachkala.
“Despite reports from several domestic media outlets, Lokomotiv is not prepared to part with the defender Renat Yanbaev,” the club said in a statement on its official website.
“Renat is continuing to prepare for the season at the training camp in [the Portuguese resort of] Lagos and is committing his future to Lokomotiv.”
Yanbaev is contracted to the club through 2013.
He has played 11 times for Russia, and has yet to score a goal for his country. His international breakthrough came in 2008, when he was selected in the squad for Euro 2008.
Yanbaev started his career at CSKA Moscow but never broke into the first team. He has also played for FC Khimki and Anzhi, when the Dagestan-based club were in the second division.
