Russia sold $13.2 billion worth of weaponry to foreign customers in 2011, head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation Mikhail Dmitriyev said on Wednesday.
Russian arms exports in 2010 totaled $10.4 billion and foreign sales in 2011 were projected at $11.6 billion.
“We planned to sell $11.5 billion worth of weaponry, but we did better than that by selling $13.2 bln,” Dmitriyev said.
The share of combat aircraft in exports was 50%, equipment for Ground Forces – 25%, naval equipment – 11%, and air defense systems – 10%, the official said.
The main buyers of Russian military equipment in 2011 were India (25%), Algeria (15%) and Venezuela (10%).
With a current arms exports portfolio of over $40 billion, Russia is planning to sell $13.5 billion worth of weaponry in 2012, Dmitriyev said.
