All newborn babies in Kyrgyzstan will receive a unique identification number at birth that will ease their registration in various public services, Kyrgyz K-News news agency reported on Friday, citing the head of the State Registration Service, Emil Aliyev.

Aliyev said the move would be coordinated with the country’s Finance Ministry. He did not specify when the numbering would come into force.

The identification numbers, which will eventually be entered in the person's passport, will be used for public services, including healthcare and schooling, the State Registration Service told the AKIpress news agency.

According to the 2009 census, Kyrgyzstan’s population is 3.8 million. There is no information whether adult citizens would also receive identification numbers.
