Tuesday's fire on the tanker "Engineer Nazarov ' on the Caspian sea near Makhachkala could have been caused by a faulty electrical circuit, the Dagestan Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.
"The fire in the bow of the vessel was probably due to a fault in an electrical cicuit panel," the ministry said.
The fire in the superstructure of the vessel started on Tuesday at 18:35 Moscow time, the fire was localized and extinguished three-and-a-half hours later. Rescue workers found the body of a crewmember on board. Three of the 13 surviving men on the tanker suffered from smoke inhalation.
