At least 14 people were killed as a devastating storm with a series of tornadoes swept across the United States on Friday, CNN reported.

The fatalities of the storm, which mostly devastated the southern part of the country, were reported in the states of Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio.

Tornadoes also raged across the states of Alabama and Tennessee leaving damages to the infrastructure and cutting off power supplies to thousands of houses.

This series of tornadoes follow a similar outbreak earlier in the week that left 13 people dead in the states of Kansas, Missouri, Illinois and Tennessee.

Last year tornadoes killed over 540 people across the United States, which was a record high figure since 1936.
