Zenit midfielder Roman Shirokov praised the performance of the CSKA post after hitting it with a header in a 2-2 Russian Premier League draw on Saturday.

The tongue-in-cheek observation came at the end of a rousing draw salvaged by CSKA Moscow winger Ahmed Musa. Alexander Kerzhakov had scored twice to give the visitors the lead before the Nigerian's winner on 68 minutes. CSKA's Alan Dzagoev scored the first equalizer.

"Of course, I really wanted to score in the game," said Shirokov, who rose unmarked to head against the foot of the upright, with CSKA goalkeeper Sergei Revyakin stranded, on six minutes. "Why didn't I pull it off? The post played well," he said.

CSKA Moscow also hit the woodwork, with Japanese midfielder Keisuke Honda smashing a late effort against the Zenit crossbar from range on 80 minutes.

The result prevented Zenit from extending their six-point lead over second-placed CSKA at the top of the Russian Premier League.
