Supporters of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin gathered for a support rally after voting ended on March 4. The premier also attended the event. With more than 80 percent of the vote counted, Putin gets 64.72 percent of the vote.

The rally was also attended by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. "Our candidate has a solid lead. I have no doubts about our triumph. We all need this victory," Medvedev said.

The president and the prime minister congratulate each other.

"We won, and we won in a fair and open fight," Putin told his supporters.

Vladimir Putin thanked his supporters. "Thanks to everyone who said "yes" to the great Russia," he added.

The rally in support of Putin was estimated to gather about 15,000, however, police says, more than 110,000 attended.

After the rally Vladimir Putin headed to his election office where he held a video conference.
