About 2,500 supporters of presidential candidate Vladimir Putin gathered on Monday in the Far Eastern city of Vladivostok to take part in a rally headlined “Fair elections – clean victory.”
Participants carried banners “For Fair Elections!”, “Putin is our President” and “I Saw no Cheating.”
Police said the organizers will face an administrative case as the number of participants surpassed the initial figures.
With more than 95% of ballots counted, Putin gets 64.29 percent of the vote, followed by Gennady Zyuganov with 17.14 percent of the vote and Mikhail Prokhorov with 7.4 percent of the vote. Vladimir Zhirinovsky and Sergei Mironov trail behind with 6.25 percent and 3.8 percent, respectively.
