Verbal abuse is widespread on the internet, but a resident of the Belarussian capital Minsk who took it offline, targeting his internet service provider, ended up behind bars for five days, local police said.
The unnamed 37-year-old was acting over technical difficulties that robbed him and at least one other client of Beltelecom of internet access late at night, Minsknews.by said on Wednesday.
The disgruntled client traveled to the provider’s office by taxi, but at 2:00 a.m., the place was deserted, the report said.
This prompted the man to scribble a profanity on the window with a marker. However, he did not realize that a bus full of policemen was parked nearby and that he was acting in good view of the officers.
The man was detained and sentenced to a short-term arrest, Minsknews.by said, without specifying the date of the incident. Beltelecom did not comment on the incident or say what caused the unfortunate loss of internet connection.
