In the run-up to International Women’s Day, the Russian Public Opinion Research Center conducted a survey find out who Russians believe are the country’s smartest and most beautiful women. Respondents were free to list both their contemporaries and any women who ever lived in Russia.
In the run-up to International Women’s Day, the Russian Public Opinion Research Center conducted a survey find out who Russians believe are the country’s smartest and most beautiful women. Respondents were free to list both their contemporaries and any women who ever lived in Russia. Oksana Fyodorova was recognized as the most beautiful woman by 9% of respondents. However, the TV host wasn’t included in the final chart because she received less than 1% of votes in the “smart” category.

Federation Council Chairman Valentina Matviyenko was recognized the cleverest woman (17% votes) with 1% respondents also appreciating the beauty of Ms Matviyenko.

…and space pilot Valentina Tereshkova won 4% votes for intelligence and 1% votes for beauty.
The intelligence of Sofya Kovalevskaya, an outstanding Russian mathematician, was appreciated by 3% of survey respondents. Her beauty, however, remained underestimated.
2% votes for intelligence went to Raisa Gorbacheva, wife of Mikhail Gorbachev, General Secretary of the Communist Party’s Central Committee…
… and Tatyana Golikova. Every hundredth respondent deemed the minister of healthcare and social development to be both smart and beautiful.
