Yelena Isinbayeva won gold at the World Indoor Athletics Championships on Sunday for the first time since 2008, less than a month after setting a new world indoor record.
Isinbayeva cleared four meters 80 centimeters to take the gold medal, ahead of France’s Vanessa Boslak in second and Great Britain’s Holly Bleasdale in third, who both cleared 4.70.
Isinbayeva then attempted to break the record of 5.01 she set in Stockholm last month, but failed all three attempts at 5.02.
Isinbayeva was recently named Russia’s most successful active sportswoman.
