Polar bear cubs born at the Moscow Zoo last November have started taking their first walks.

Two female polar bears gave birth to their cubs in the zoo in late November

One of the bears gave birth to three cubs.

The cubs first left their lair in late February, taking a short walk that lasted only several minutes.

So far, a member of the zoo staff says, the bear cubs are not risking walking too far away form their mother. They explore the enclosure within a couple of meters and return upon hearing a sniffing sound, a special signal given by the mother.

Now, the mother bear and the cubs’ walks last only five minutes - but soon they will become longer and more frequent.
